February 14 is Valentines Day. Legend has it that a certain third-century priest named St.Valentine was performing marriage ceremonies despite a ban by the Roman Emperor Claudius II. Claudius II thought single men made better soldiers for his army. Eventually Valentine was thrown in jail. There he fell in love with his jailor’s daughter and he signed his last message to her “From your Valentine”. St. Valentine was executed on February 14. There were two Saints associated with this holiday. The other was another Roman who was a christian and was killed on the same day because he was a christian.
