Cupids Fun things to do with Your Sweetheart on Valentines Day

February 14, 2008 By: hockeyandhorsey Category: holiday events, Food Specialties, Children, Family Friendly No Comments →

Cupids Fun things to do with Your Sweetheart on Valentines DayFebruary 14 is Valentines Day.  Legend has it that a certain third-century priest named St.Valentine was performing marriage ceremonies despite a ban by the Roman Emperor Claudius II.  Claudius II thought single men made better soldiers for his army.  Eventually Valentine was thrown in jail.  There he fell in love with his jailor’s daughter and he signed his last message to her “From your Valentine”.  St. Valentine was executed on February 14.  There were two Saints associated with this holiday.  The other was  another Roman who was a christian and was killed on the same day because he was a christian.

Today, it is a day to tell people you love them and exchange Valentine’s cards.  Of course it has turned into more than cards.  There are so many things to do with your loved one on Valentine day.  Here are just a few in our local area:

Come to sip wine with your sweetheart at Potomac Point Winery.   Come for a day for sparkling wine paired with decadent chocolate covered strawberries.  Admission is $14.99/Person.

Join us for the Tot Valentine Party at the Stafford Gym and Rec center for songs, crafts and games.  Ages 2-5 at 10 am.  $8

The Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse is screening “The Princess Bride”.  The doors open at 6:30 pm for live music bye Everyone but Pete and an optional wine tasting with the  Washington Wine Academy.  Stand up comedian Jon Mumma takes the state at 7:45 and  Tickets are $8 and include everything except the wine tasting which is a $1 for each ounce you tast.

Or skip the dinner and stay in.  Cook for your sweetheart, play a game with the family but whatever you do just do it together.

Happy Valentines day from Quantico Live and Military By owner.

No matter what you decied to do together on Valentines day
