The first and last World Series of this decade are owned by those boys in pinstripes, the New York Yankees. A decade ago, we had Y2K….. now, H1N1. A decade ago the stock market was dancing around the $11,000 mark … today a stiff and awkward dance with 10,000. One of the few numbers that went up during that decade was A-Rods salary that he somehow managed to renegotiate for 275 million over the next ten years and then finally won the Wrold Series. Do you think Georgie is wondering where the last 24 million a year went when each October ARod seemed to choke on his checkbook?
Yankee fans, I’m not happy that ARod decided to wake from his October nap time this year. It’s easy to hate them again.
Northern Viriginians, would the addition of a big slugger invigorate the Senators (masquerading at the Nationals) or the Orioles? Highly unlikely, as both teams finished last in their division at 34 and 39 games out of first respectively. But have hope Sportsfans of the DC metro area. You can adopt your northern brethren and ride the Raven wave into the playoffs?? The Washington Capitols are looking great this year and riding the top of their division. Most importantly, some great college basketball goes on within the metro area. Check out Georgetown, the new darling of the NCAA George Mason and of course rightside of the Beltway Brut… the Maryland Terps. All well worth your devoted fan craziness. Midnight Madness kicked off just a few short weeks ago and it won’t be long until those polished boards are pounding with some of the most talented athletes in the country (despite ARod). And… they play for free… (sort of)
