“Hiring Our Heroes” Hosts Military Spouse Career Forum in Washington DC, 13 January 2012

by monica on January 9, 2012

As a military spouse of 16+ years, I understand the challenges of making a mark in the corporate world while weathering frequent relocation. So it is wonderful to see that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has recognized the need to assist military spouses with career counseling and placement.

On January 13, 2012 there will be a “Hiring Our Heroes” Military Spouse Career Forum that will offer free iterview and resume workshops with onsite computer access, small group mentoring from senior military spouses and top female executives, and free advice on how to start your own business or obtain federal employment.

The morning session runs from 8:30 am – 11:00 am and will focus on the small groups and mentoring.

The afternoon session, 11:30 am – 2:30 pm is the hiring fare with national companies that are looking specifically for qualified military spouses

Registration is restricted to military spouses only and confirmation of your status will be confirmed once you have registered for the event. Military spouses includes those of active duty, Guard and Reserves, retirees, veterans and the deceased.)

Registration closes on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, so please be sure to visit the event site for more information and registration.

Free childcare with a bonded, licensed provider is being offered on-site. Register for an opportunity to receive a full makeover, including designer suit giveaways.

Doors open at 7:00 am at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mt. Vernon Place, NW, Washington, DC 20001.

Military spouses have an incredible skill set and would be an asset to any organization. Go forth and put your best foot forward. Good luck and have fun!
