Looking to celebrate Earth Day, well you have lots of choices in the DC Area.
First check out the events on the National Mall . The Mall will be hosting an all day rally with the goal to “Mobilize The Earth and demand a sustainable future”. The event is free and open to the public and includes music, entertainment, celebrity speakers and environmental activities. “Kicking Daisies”, “Cheap Trick” and Dave Mason will be some of the entertainment. The Earth Day Rally will take place from 12pm-7pm on the National Mall between 9th and 14th streets.
Also at the Rally you can visit the EcoVillage. At the Ecovillage you will be able to learn about renewable demonstration, educational workshops, interactive exhibits and a voter registration booth.
An E.P.A. National Sustainable Design Expo will also be taking place. The Expo will include hands-on activities and a displays from different organizations showcasing their ideas on how to protect our planet.
The Earth Day Youth March will begin at 12th Street and Madison Drive NW. The March will begin at 11:30am and join the rally around noon.
The entire rally will be streamed live on the web at Earth Day.
Other events happening in the DC area include Earth Day at the National Zoo. . At the Zoo you will be able to make GREEN themed crafts and learn how to live a more “environmentally friendly” life.
Tudor Place in Georgetown will be holding Earth Day: A Family Celebration at Tudor Place, with family activities including a scavenger hunt and flower pot painting! Admission for member children is $5.00 and non-member children $8.00, cost for accompanying adult is $5.00.
Alexandria will also be hosting Earth Day Events from 10:00am to 2:00pm in Ben Brenman Park.
