Alexandria’s Food & Wine Festival

by Laura on June 19, 2012

This Saturday come on out to Alexandria and enjoy Alxandria’s Food & Wine Festival.

The Festival will take place from 12:00pm-5:00pm at 300 John Carlyle St. The Festival will include live entertainment, wine and food tasting, and a children’s corner. You will also get the opportunity to see which of the local restaurants will win the best appetizer, best main course or best dessert contest!

Their is no charge to attend the Festival but you will need to purchase tickets to sample food and wine. The cost is $20.00 for a book of 25 tickets and $10.00 for per person for entrance to the wine garden. You will be able to purchase tickets at the event. Active duty military families will receive one free coupon book while supply lasts!

If you bring the family make sure you stop by the Childrens’s Corner. The kids will love jumping in the bounce house and getting their face painted!!

You will also be able to enjoy some great music. A few of the bands that will be on hand include Hand Painted Swinger, Frankojazz and DelRay School of Rock.

This is a great chance to taste food from some of Alexandria’s best restaurants, including Chart House, Delia’s Mediterranean Grill and Alexandria Cupcake. Also, in the Winegarden you will be able to taste some of Virginia’s best wines. Prince Michel Vineyard and Winery, Lake Anna Winery and Mattaponi Winery are just a few of the great local wineries that will be present.

The Carlyle district is located across from the King Street Metro Station which means if you do not want to drive you will be able to take the metro.

For more information about this great event go to Alexandria Food and Wine Festival.

Along with donating a coupon book to Active Duty Military Families the Festival will give a portion of its proceeds to the Carpenter’s Shelter of Alexandria. Carpenter’s Shelter is a homeless shelter for individuals and families and provides them with not only shelter but an opportunity to become independents and stable again.

So make the short drive from the MCB Quantico area or take the metro and enjoy a great day of food and wine!
